What SEO costs a UK business, month by month

SEO is priced as ongoing work, which is why the useful question is not what it costs but what lands in your account each month and how you check it was worth paying for. This page sets out how UK agencies structure their fees, what our own work covers, what we report, and what we will not promise. We are a studio based in Timișoara, Romania, working remotely for clients across the EU and the UK.

What SEO services cost in the UK, in plain numbers

We invoice in euro and quote in pounds at the rate stated on your quote, so the conversion is fixed in writing and not left to the day of payment.

Nothing is added on top of the quoted figure. The price you see is the price you pay.

Monthly retainer, fixed-price project or one-off audit

A retainer buys continuity: technical work, content and monitoring every month, with a report you can check. It suits businesses that need to keep producing pages or keep competing for the same searches as somebody else.

A fixed-price project suits a defined job with an end. Rebuilding the page structure of a site, fixing indexing after a migration, or rewriting a set of service pages. You get a scope, a price and a delivery date, and nothing renews.

A one-off audit is for deciding, not doing. You get the problems ranked by impact, each with the evidence behind it and the specific fix. You can hand that to your own developer, to another agency, or back to us.

Most sites do not need a retainer from day one. If the technical base is broken, a fixed-price fix first is cheaper and produces more movement than three months of content on top of a site Google cannot read properly.

What the fee covers, and what is always extra

Inside the fee: technical work on indexing, crawling, speed, titles and descriptions, headings, structured data, internal links and language versions. Keyword and intent mapping, so each page has one job. Rewriting pages that already exist and are aimed at nothing in particular. Monthly measurement and a written report.

Always quoted separately: new page templates and design work, a site migration, paid media, photography and video, translation into another language, and any development inside a platform we did not build.

Never included, because we do not do it: bought link packages, private blog networks, and reciprocal link schemes. Cleaning that up afterwards costs more than the visibility it buys.

How much a small business should pay for SEO

The honest lower bound is the amount that pays for real hours. Below roughly two days of work a month, nothing meaningful happens: there is no time to research, write, implement and measure, so the fee goes on reporting that somebody worked.

For a small business, the sequence that produces enquiries fastest is usually the same. Fix what is technically broken. Give each service its own page instead of one page listing everything. Get the Google Business Profile consistent with the site. Then produce content, in the order of commercial intent rather than search volume.

If your budget only covers one of those steps a quarter, take them in that order rather than spreading the money across all of them at once.

Cheap SEO: what the low end of the market actually delivers

At the bottom of the market you are usually buying one of three things. An automated report with no human decision behind it. A monthly quota of thin articles, written to a word count rather than to a search. Or links from sites that exist only to sell links, which is the one that can actively damage you.

None of that is a bargain, because the cost of reversing it lands on you later.

A small budget spent well looks different: fewer targets, chosen for intent, and work on the pages you already have. We would rather take four searches seriously than twenty on paper.

Why a remote team in the EU can charge less for the same work

The difference is overhead, not skill. We have no office in central London, no account management layer between you and the people doing the work, and no commission going to an intermediary.

What you get instead: one point of contact, calls in English, EU hours which are one hour ahead of the UK, written summaries after each call, and access to the same data we work from. What you do not get is somebody who can sit in your meeting room. We say that before the quote, not after.

What we report every month, straight from Search Console

The report is built from your own Search Console property, so every figure in it can be checked by you without asking us.

Impressions and clicks by query, so you can see what you are being found for and not only how many people arrived. Average position by query and by page, compared with the previous month and with the starting window. Indexing and coverage errors. Queries appearing for the first time, which is normally the earliest sign that something is moving. And the list of pages we touched that month.

Realistic timing: technical changes show up within weeks, new content takes months to settle, and on a site with a difficult history the first real movement usually appears between month three and month six.

How to get a written SEO quote

Send us your website address and the searches you want to be found for. We look at the site, at what it currently ranks for, and at what it would take, then send a scope and a price in writing.

Email [email protected] or call +40 770 129 502. There is no charge for the initial review and no obligation after it.

Questions UK clients ask about SEO cost

Is there a minimum contract?

We recommend planning for six months because that is when the work starts to show, but we do not lock anyone in with exit penalties.

Do you guarantee first page rankings?

No, and neither can anyone else. What we commit to is a written scope, a monthly report from your own data, and measurable targets with dates, for example moving a named set of queries from position forty to position twenty within a quarter.

What happens if I stop paying?

Everything done so far stays on your site and belongs to you. What stops is new production and monthly monitoring.

Can you work on a site another agency built?

Yes, provided we get access and the platform lets us change titles, structure and content. If it does not, we tell you before you pay for a month.

Do you charge more for ecommerce?

Usually, yes, because product pages, categories and filters multiply the work. The scope on your quote says exactly which pages are covered.

Why are your prices lower than a London agency?

Lower overheads and no middle layer, not less work. The scope on the quote tells you how many hours you are buying, which is the only fair way to compare two prices.
